What is the Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard, and How Does it Work?
The Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard is a full-sized inflatable paddleboard that claims to offer all the versatility as a regular solid paddleboard.
9 feet of length gives you a lot of room to roam around on, while 30 inches of width gives you plenty of space to spread out. It’s 5 inches thick, which is nice for stability and flotation. All in all, these dimensions are quite satisfactory and standard for any paddleboard.
The Pathfinder’s claim to fame is that you can theoretically use it for anything you would use a hard paddleboard for, all while paying a much better price. This includes yoga, sports, and other paddleboard activities.
It’s also easy to use. You’ll receive the deflated paddleboard upon purchase, and you’ll pump it up with the included air pump. Then, you simply toss it in the water and start paddling around. Sounds pretty great.
But Pathfinder isn’t the first company to manufacture a paddleboard. Let’s check out what makes them stand out from the competition.
What Makes the Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard Unique?
The Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard is different in its composition, price, and usability. This board is made with extremely durable PVC material with an extra-tight multi-layer drop stitch holding everything together.
When inflated, it has the look and feel of a regular hardboard. When it isn’t inflated, it stores much easier than a hardboard. It’s also much easier to tote around with you. If you’ve ever dragged your paddleboard across the hot sand while dripping with sweat, you know how important this is.
It weighs in at around 20 pounds when inflated. This isn’t exactly featherweight status, but it’s much lighter than other solid paddleboards which can weigh as much as 40 pounds.
It’s easy to inflate, easy to use, and the price tag makes it easy to buy. Speaking of the price, what exactly are you getting in the package?
So, what’s so special about this paddleboard? Well, the answer lies in the price. The cost of a hard board can vary hundreds of dollars, depending on how feature-rich or on-brand it is.
That being said, you’ll pay up to $2,000 for a good-quality hard paddleboard — and that’s just way past budget for many people. While the Pathfinder isn’t perfect, it isn’t poorly manufactured or cheaply made. It does sound a bit too cheap to live up to expectations, but it costs less because it’s simply cheaper to manufacture.
Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard Breakdown
So, what exactly do you get for your money? Check out what’s included in your package:
- Deflated stand-up paddleboard
- High-pressure single-action air pump
- Removable center fin for tracking
- Adjustable paddle made from aluminum
- Valve wrench
- Carrying case with shoulder straps
Seems like a lot, right? Well, it is and isn’t. Pretty much every paddleboard you buy will come with a center fin which you can take on and off as you prefer.
A paddle is also something you get with every paddleboard. The carrying case, air pump, and valve wrench are unique to the Pathfinder, but they’re also absolutely necessary. It isn’t like you’re getting some special deal with an included air pump, it’s just a part you need.
And if we’re being perfectly honest (which we promised you we would be from the start), the air pump may not be the easiest to use. You have to pump the SUP up to 15 PSI, which may be difficult for smaller people to do with this non-electric pump.
What Others Think About the Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard
The best way to get a feel for any product you’re thinking about buying is to read the things that other buyers have posted about it online. This lets you get down to the nitty-gritty of the product.
You’ll inevitably find out the good, the bad, and the ugly of whatever it is you’re researching. And we’ve done just that. Here’s what buyers loved, and here’s what they hated.
What Buyers Liked
Overall, it seems as though the quality is more than up to snuff. This holds especially true when you factor in the price, which is only a fraction of what you’d have to pay for a hard board.
Apparently, you can do all sorts of things on this board. Customers have taken pets aboard with high degrees of success, and have had some super-sweet, relaxing sessions of yoga as well.
This is reportedly a great board for beginners and intermediate-level paddleboarders. There may be problems with balance at first, but not more than you would have with any other paddleboard. In other words, this SUP is extremely stable and feels hard when properly inflated.
Customers also reported that the carrying bag works like a backpack, and is super-convenient for transportation. You can take it hiking to remote places, where you’d never be able to lug a standard hard board.
What Buyers Disliked
It isn’t all rainbows and butterflies, unfortunately. Some people didn’t have much luck with this paddleboard, and the biggest complaint seems to be with inflating and deflating the board.
Some customers claimed that it was difficult to force air out of the paddleboard, while others claimed that it was extremely hard to inflate. The air goes in easy until the last few PSI, and then you may need help.
Though most people loved the actual board, there were a few complaints that stated that the other included parts broke easily. When dissatisfied customers tried to contact the company, all they heard was crickets.
That’s a mighty big investment to make without any guarantee of support from the company. If something is delivered broken or with missing parts, it’s only fair that it should be returnable or replaceable at no cost to the buyer.
Unfortunately, you might not get good customer service from the manufacturer. Buying this board is a gamble. While most buyer’s won out and got something they loved, a few were left in the lurch — you don’t want that to be you.
How the Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard Compares to Others on the Market
Ok, so you’ve got a pretty good idea of what you’re getting with this paddleboard. But before you make any decision, you need to know what else is out there. And trust us, there are many inflatable paddleboards on the market. Let’s check out the competition and see if they compare.

The Vilano Navigator is a board which is quite similar to the Pathfinder. It’s inflatable, and it comes with everything that the Pathfinder comes with to make setup and carrying easier.
The Navigator is good and is a bit bigger than the Pathfinder. It’s 10 feet long instead of 9, 6 inches thick instead of 5, and 36 inches wide instead of 30.
That’s a sizeable difference. It makes the board sturdier, more durable, and more comfortable to ride on. Customers raved about its dimensions, convenience, and usability. However, they seemed to have the same problems with bad customer service that some Pathfinder buyers had. Worth it? You decide.

The Ten Toes SUP stand-up paddleboard glory. And you get one extra inch of depth, but the length and width are the same as the Pathfinder. It’s reportedly stable, with a great foot grip so you can do sports.
However, some customers reported shoddy craftsmanship, easy breakage, and poor customer service. If you’re willing to buy a product with these conflicting reports, you may as well go with the Pathfinder.
This inflatable board from Goplus is larger. Like all the inflatable paddleboards on the list, it comes with everything you need to get started.
It also comes with a repair kit, which is a really big plus. Is it possible that all the problems people have had with the other SUPs could be avoided with the Goplus and its repair kit? Maybe.
There were also reports of good customer service, which seems to be a rarity in the stand-up paddleboard industry.
What We Think About the Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard
Well, we think a lot of things. The Pathfinder fits the criteria of a stable, durable, and fun paddleboard for you to buy.
However, it’s not for everyone. If you’re a beginner looking to try out a cheaper paddleboard, it may be just what you need. If you can’t transport the more cumbersome hard paddleboards, this will provide you with a similar experience that you can actually attain.
Don’t expect this board to handle exactly the same as a regular paddleboard, because it won’t. It’s inflatable, so expect to be rocking until you figure out your balance. It may take a bit longer than it would on a hard board, but it will happen.
You do have to be a little more patient with this board. Inflation and deflation will take more time. However, in exchange you get something that’s extremely portable. You just have to figure out if that exchange is worth it to you.
The Pathfinder Inflatable SUP Stand Up Paddleboard Could be Your Go-to Board
The Pathfinder is a pretty slick piece of equipment. It’s attractive, portable, highly usable, durable, and convenient all at the same time. Could you ask for anything more in a stand-up paddleboard?
We guess you actually could, but you might be pushing your luck. If you’ve been craving a little bit of inflatable SUP action, the Pathfinder could be the right board for you. So, what are you waiting for?
Get out there and get to paddling.
